THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN OUR COMMUNITY!
Throughout the school year, Saint Louis Sudbury School enrolls students who meet the following criteria:
The school and the family believe that the student can thrive in Saint Louis Sudbury School’s program.
The student chooses to join the school community.
Throughout the admissions process, we will work with you to determine the good fit between your family and Saint Louis Sudbury School, as well as to provide your child or teen with the information they need to make their own decision about enrollment.
All enrollments begin with a 4-week Practice Period. We believe that many children can thrive in Saint Louis Sudbury School’s program if they choose to be here. Occasionally we find that we are unable to make an offer of admission, sometimes related to a history of serious behavioral or emotional patterns that may be difficult for our small community to absorb.
Our admissions process can be broken down into these steps:
1. Learn about Saint Louis Sudbury School
Read through our website and check out our recommended resources. Schedule an informational virtual meeting or phone call with a Sudbury representative (optional, but recommended). Schedule here or scroll to the bottom of this page for the scheduling calendar.
2. Tour the school
After reading about Saint Louis Sudbury School, it’s time to come in for a visit (schedule here)! You’ll meet with a representative of the school, to answer your questions, help both you and the school determine the good fit for your family, and take a tour of our space. This is an opportunity for you and your child to learn more about Saint Louis Sudbury School, just as we’re getting to know you, so feel free to bring lots of questions!
Schedule online to make an appointment for your family to visit.
School visits take about an hour and are conducted during regular school hours during the school year, and with greater scheduling flexibility over the summer. If you’re considering fall enrollment and would like to see our school in action, schedule your visit by March or early April of the preceding school year.
We recommend that students learn about Saint Louis Sudbury School ahead of time.
After the school tour, you will be invited to submit an application.
Step 3. Student Visiting Week
After touring and submitting your application and the family and school feel positive about moving forward, a Visiting Week for the student is scheduled. The Visiting Week fee is $175. If the family chooses to enroll their child at Saint Louis Sudbury School, the $175 will be applied as a credit toward the first month’s tuition.
Here are the forms to complete prior to the Visiting Week:
Emergency Contacts
Medical Info and Consent
Dismissal Authorization
Contacts for School Schedule Changes
Photo Consent
Buzz Book Consent (not required for Visiting Week, but required for enrollment)
Off-Campus Driving
Open Campus Policy
Open Campus Release and Indemnification Agreement
Off-Campus Driving for Student Drivers (optional)
Immunization Record (not required for Visiting Week, but required for enrollment)
Step 4. Admissions Interview
After the student’s Visiting Week and the family and school feel positive about moving forward, we schedule an admissions interview. This is an opportunity for the school and family to really get to know each other and determine if it will be a good fit for your family and answer questions. This meeting can occur on the last day of the Visiting Week.
Step 5. Enroll & Registration Meeting
We will be in touch with you soon after the admissions meeting and invite you to enroll or we will tell you why we cannot offer admissions at this time. Before finalizing the enrollment, you may choose to submit a Tuition Assistance Application. You may submit your Tuition Assistance Application at any time before or after visiting the school. You’ll receive information about how much Tuition Assistance your family is eligible for within a week or so after filing.
Email us at info@stlsudbury.org to schedule your registration meeting to complete the enrollment.
At the meeting, you will go over some general orientation, sign the enrollment contract, make your initial deposit (first month tuition and a non-refundable $300 Supply Fee), and review any documents. Custodial parents and all enrolling students from your family should attend the registration meeting, which usually takes about one hour.
OTHER USEFUL INFORMATION FOR A VISITING WEEK
Drop-off and pick-up procedures
Students may arrive any time between 8:30 and 10:30 am. Please ring the door bell to the right of the front door.
Dismissal is 3 to 3:30 pm. At 3 pm, students must be ready to be picked up. This includes having all of their belongings in one place and their shoes on. When parents/caregivers arrive at school in the afternoon, please text all staff members listed on the weekly private Families Facebook group post and let them know that you are at school to pick up your child. The parent/caregiver may also text the child directly but must text staff members separately for safety purposes.
Staff will tell the child that their parent/caregiver has arrived at school. The child will verbally tell a staff member that they are leaving for the day. They sign out and head downstairs.
Parents/caregivers: please wait in your car or outside of the building. Do not come up to the second floor unless arranged ahead of time with staff. If you do have permission to come upstairs, please tell a staff member that you have your child and are leaving for the day. This is for safety purposes and not that staff do not want to see you! We are happy to chat at another time but dismissal can get busy.
ATTENDANCE
A tardy is counted as an unexcused absence when you arrive after 10:30 am if you have not received prior approval by School Meeting. You must be at school for a minimum of 5 hours a day. Full-time students: when 4 unexcused absences are reached (including tardies and sick days) in a calendar month, a conference with parent(s), student, and staff will be scheduled. Part-time students: When 3 unexcused absences are reached (including tardies and sick days) in a calendar month, a conference with parent(s), student, and staff will be scheduled. Students may make motions at Pop-In at 10:45 am every day or during the motions section of School Meeting to get planned absences approved. Students may also make a motion at School Meeting to adjust attendance expectations should extenuating circumstances arise.
